Dark Skin Types

Our Centre has gained a reputation for managing the types of corn that form in more reactive, darker skin types and we see black and Asian patients from all over the UK. Such patients are not only concerned about the pain that their corns cause but they are often very self-conscious about the appearance, especially in the summer months when they wish to wear sandals. When corns on lighter skin types the lesion will darken slightly. On dark skin, corns tend to lighten and this makes them more obvious.

The surgical management of these types of corns require special consideration as the skin is more reactive and prone to scarring from surgery. Our Centre has developed a number of refined surgical techniques to optimise the surgical outcome. We use a specific type of suture which is less reactive and advanced plastic surgery techniques to obtain an ideal result.
